About

What Should We Watch on Peacock?, also known as What Should We Watch on Peacock for Our Movie Date Night? or What to Watch on Movie Date Night (The Musical), refers to a sponsored Peacock advertisement posted by actor Jared Goldsmith on his TikTok account @jaredbgoldsmith in June 2024 in which he's singing about what movie he and his date should watch on the streaming service Peacock. The ad was labeled cringe by many on the app and became the subject of ViggleAI rotoscope videos and memes in the following weeks.

Origin

On June 20th, 2024, TikToker[1] @jaredbgoldsmith posted a sponsored ad for Peacock called, "What to Watch on Movie Date Night (the musical)," in which he starts by singing, "What should we watch on Peacock for our movie date night?" The musical skit was a conversation between two people on a date trying to decide what movie to watch. In a month, the advertisement received roughly 21.6 million plays and 117,000 likes (shown below).

Lyrics / Copypasta

What should we watch on Peacock for our movie date night?
Hmm, a comedy or action or maybe sports.
Or maybe a WWE fight!
Well, what about a drama or a piece of history?
Or a limited series with mystery: when a mother goes missing her four adult children piece together everything they thought they knew about their parents, "Apples Never Fall."
We know what we're watching on Peacock for our movie date night.
"Apples Never Fall" will be our limited TV series delight.
If we binge all episodes now we won't finish too late.
There's always something to watch on Peacock for our movie night date!

Spread

The advertisement amassed discourse and reactions going into July 2024, evident in a video posted by TikToker[2] @rock.candee on July 14th, 2024, in which he said that he couldn't block the ad from his "For You" page, gaining over 130,100 plays and 2,200 likes in 15 days (shown below, left).
