How to Add Instant Depth of Field to Your Photos

Adding instant depth of field to photos is a popular technique that can help make your photos look more professional and visually appealing. Here are the steps to add depth of field to your photos using Adobe Photoshop:

Open the photo you want to edit in Photoshop.
Duplicate the background layer by pressing Ctrl/Command+J or by right-clicking on the layer and selecting "Duplicate Layer."
Apply a Gaussian Blur filter to the duplicated layer by going to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Adjust the radius to your desired level of blur. The idea is to make the foreground and background slightly blurred, while the subject remains in focus.
Add a Layer Mask to the duplicated layer by clicking on the Layer Mask button in the Layers panel. This will allow you to selectively reveal or hide parts of the blurred layer.
Select the Brush tool and set the foreground color to black. Paint over the subject on the layer mask to reveal the sharp original image below. If you accidentally paint over too much of the image, simply switch the foreground color to white and paint over the affected area to restore the blur.
Adjust the opacity of the duplicated layer to your liking. A lower opacity will give a more subtle effect, while a higher opacity will result in more pronounced blur.

By following these steps, you should be able to add instant depth of field to your photos, making them more visually appealing and professional-looking.
