Both npm install and npx expo install are used to install dependencies in a React Native project. However, there are some differences between the two:
npm install is the standard way to install dependencies in a Node.js project. It installs the packages listed in the package.json file in the current directory, along with their dependencies, and stores them in the node_modules directory.
npx expo install is a command specific to Expo projects. It installs packages from the Expo SDK, which are optimized for use with Expo. It can also install regular npm packages, but it's recommended to use npm install for that.
Here are some other differences to note:
npm install can be used outside of an Expo project, while npx expo install is only available within an Expo project.
npm install installs the latest version of a package by default, while npx expo install installs the version of the package that's compatible with the current version of the Expo SDK.
npm install requires that you have Node.js and npm installed on your system, while npx expo install only requires the Expo CLI.
In summary, npm install is a more general-purpose package manager that can be used with any Node.js project, while npx expo install is specific to Expo projects and is optimized for installing packages from the Expo SDK.
