Window.close() in JavaScript

By: aathishankaran in JavaScript Tutorials on 2007年03月29日 [フレーム]

Here are a few examples of how to close a window using JavaScript:

Using window.close() method:

<button onclick="window.close();">Close Window</button>

Using window.open() method and window.close() method:

<button onclick="var win=window.open('', '_self');win.close();">Close Window</button>

Using window.open() method and window.setTimeout() method:

<button onclick="var win=window.open('', '_self');window.setTimeout(function(){win.close();}, 5000);">Close Window After 5 Seconds</button>

Using window.location.href property:

<button onclick="window.location.href = 'about:blank';">Close Window</button>

Note: The window.close() method can only close the window that was opened by JavaScript using the window.open() method. If the window was not opened by JavaScript, the method will not close the window. Additionally, some modern browsers may prevent closing the window using JavaScript to prevent malicious behavior.
