Java Transaction API

By: aathishankaran in Java Tutorials on 2007年02月22日 [フレーム]

Java Transaction API (JTA) is a specification for managing distributed transactions in Java applications. It is part of the Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) platform and defines a set of interfaces and classes that allow developers to write transactional applications that can work with different transactional resource managers, such as databases, message queues, and other systems.

JTA provides a high-level abstraction of transactions that enables developers to focus on writing business logic rather than worrying about low-level transaction management details. It allows multiple transactional resources to be combined into a single transaction, which can be committed or rolled back atomically.

Some key features of JTA include:

  • Declarative transaction management: transactions can be defined declaratively using annotations or configuration files.
  • Distributed transactions: transactions can span multiple machines and transactional resources.
  • Two-phase commit protocol: JTA supports the two-phase commit protocol to ensure that transactions are atomic and consistent across all resources.
  • Resource management: JTA provides a standard interface for managing transactional resources, such as databases and message queues.

Overall, JTA provides a powerful and flexible way to manage distributed transactions in Java applications, making it an essential part of the Java EE platform.
