MARTA began phase one of the Five Points Transformation on May 17, 2025, with bus routes detoured to Forsyth Street, in preparation for deconstruction of the concrete canopy.

Safely deconstructing the existing concrete canopy will require several changes to the way MARTA customers use the station. These changes are detailed below:

Customer Services

Image Description: The graphic above shows temporary station service locations.

Five Points restrooms are closed. Use nearby stations for restroom access:

  • SEC District (Westbound): "SMART" restrooms with remote access
  • Peachtree Center (Northbound): Restrooms on north concourse level
  • Georgia State (Eastbound): Restrooms on lower concourse level
  • West End (Southbound): Restrooms on lower concourse level

Rail Access Changes

  • Use Forsyth Street entrance for station access. Station entrances at Alabama Street, Broad Street Plaza, Peachtree Street, and federal tunnel for employees remain closed.
  • Elevators remain open on the concourse and platform levels.
  • Rail service and rail transfers are unchanged. This project will not affect rail schedules, but single-tracking may be required for other MARTA projects.
  • Some night closures of the entrances may be necessary during construction. These will be communicated well in advance.

Bus Detours

The Forsyth Street entrance is the boarding location for all bus routes serving Five Points. Click the links below for updated service maps and schedules or use our Trip Planner for real-time route information.

Project Impact

The initial phase of the project focuses on demolishing and removing the existing concrete canopy. In later phases, a new canopy will be constructed, the centralized bus hub and pedestrian access along Broad Street will be improved, and new community spaces, public art, and urban agriculture will be introduced. Together, these upgrades will reimagine Five Points Station as a dynamic city hub with better transit connections, enhanced safety, and modernized amenities.

The transformation will directly benefit current MARTA riders while also encouraging nearby residents to consider transit as a convenient alternative to driving. By shifting more trips to public transportation, the demand for surface parking in the downtown area is reduced—opening the door for redevelopment into affordable housing, green spaces, and other community-focused features that enrich urban life.

Project Funding

The project will cost approximately 230ドル million and is funded through the More MARTA Atlanta half-penny sales tax, with 13ドル.8 million from the state of Georgia, and a 25ドル million Federal RAISE Grant, with remaining support from the MARTA core penny.
