Linode is a company that provides virtual private servers used for indieweb.org and other community websites, container hosting, DNS hosting, Amazon S3-compatible storage and other cloud computing services. Since 2022 it has been owned by Akamai.
Security auto-updates
Linode will update servers as needed when it receives notice of security updates, and if necessary reboot servers (sometimes with very little notice, like a day or days).

Such reboots may affect long running processes, and any applications you were running that require a manual restart will require you to do so.

- Kelson Vibber uses Linode to host a personal Nextcloud and for experimental projects such as a single-user GoToSocial instance.
- Aaron Parecki has used Linode to host his personal website and many IndieWeb projects since 2007.
