Embed Essay in Column/Question set

Is there anyway to add it such that Essay types apper in Column?

It would then allow us to have multiple open-ended questions in one H5P content type and show them all in the scroll. We would be VERY, VERY grateful.

Yes, it's the same for Question Set. But I cannot give you any exact dates.

JavaScript does not have an interface concept like e.g. Java. Instead, you can hand out some rules what you should implement in your code (a contract). If you comply to these rules, then your code should work smoothly with the other code. It's like a "soft" interface.

H5P as a framework so far has only one contract. It's a contract for Question type contents. If your code offers all the functionality that's described there, it will be fit to be used in compound content types such as Column or Question Set which can then rely on a function that returns the score, a function that resets the content type, etc.

thank you for the update, we are really keen on getting essay in column and question set. I did notice that when i looked at the essay it says it is now "ready for question set" ... is there anyway to get that part live? thanks in advance.

We have yet to create alternative forks and like you my engineers have a list of tasks with code switching being a cost we can't do at the moment. So, i will continue to remain hopeful that you all will update essay and bring into question set and column soon.

Question: If we did fork it does that mean it would be ready for just question set or question set and column? And i am assuming forking and integrating into question set and column is a big lift or?

Hi sbarab!

The code of H5P Essay implements the complete question type contract, so it's suitable for H5P.Column and H5P.QuestionSet. Making it available in the latter is just a matter of seconds, because you'll only have to update the library selector inside semantics.json to use the correct version of H5P.Essay.

Please note though, that in case something has to be changed in the code of one of the libraries that you're forking, you'd have to put your system into development mode briefly, because otherwise H5P will not allow to update local libraries that have the same version number as the one that is about to be installed.

Essay sent out xAPI statements right from the start. This has nothing to do with integration with other content types or with a host system's gradebook. The latter will be possible too, but there's still a code review to be done. You can track the progress in our ticket system.

I checked the latest releases (1.11) source code and the Essay is included in the options list in semantics.json but when I open it on h5p.com it is not listed, nor does it let me paste it into the window.
