This New Year went off to a good start with our first Drupal User Group meetup of the year happening on January 11, 2020 at B-HUB, Mar Ivanios College. The meeting was attended by 8 members from different parts of Trivandrum.

The meetup opened at 10 AM with a presentation by Nitheesh C.S on the basics of installing Drupal followed by a Q&A session where he clarified doubts regarding the installation process with attendees who wanted to know more.

We are coming together for this month's DrupalTVM Meetup,
at B-Hub, (CCCIET), Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar, Nalanchira, Trivandrum,

We have planned the following activities/sessions/discussions for the day:
1) Getting to know each other.
2) Session: A quick walkthrough on using Event Subscribers in Drupal 8 - (Level: Intermediate) - by Binny Thomas (Axelerant).

Drupal is a free and open-source CMS (Content Management System),
used by millions of people and organizations around the world, to build and maintain their websites.
It is known for its powerfulness, flexibility and scalability, and hence is preferred by some of the top business and government organizations, including the Government of Australia, Red Cross, Harvard, The Economist, BBC, NBC News, Whole Foods, Cisco, Twitter, and many, many more.

With the huge acceptance that Drupal has in such high profile projects, it is now a big career choice for many.

After a short break, the Drupal User Group in Trivandrum got together to meet at Bhub (Mar Ivanios College Incubation Center) today(December 14th, 2019).

This was a very productive meeting with the following attendees who were long time users, promoters and professional developers of Drupal.

I would like to take a drupal certification-Acquia Certified Drupal 8 Site Builder. How should I prepare for the exam?

DrupalTVM is a small group of Drupal enthusiasts from Trivandrum,
who though have been using Drupal for quite some time,
haven't explored much the joy of contributing back to Drupal,
and collaborating with the larger Drupal community worldwide.

The aim of this group is to bring together all those who use/work with Drupal in and around Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum),
and to organize meetups, sprints and camps, both for learning from each other, and for contributing back to Drupal, as part of a larger community,
for the greater good of all.

So this is what we have learnt / come to after all those discussions:

Theme: Consumption to Contributing, and Beyond!

1) Aspect 01: Getting people together
- hold meetups once every month.
- bring in more people, send out early notices.
- shout out via all channels.
- collected email IDs and phone numbers.

We had a great meetup yesterday - the first one, of a lot more to come, attended by 13 of us.

How all of this started:
Anish and me had attended DrupalCon Asia 2016, at Mumbai, a few months back. Inspired and all excited, on our way back home, we were talking all about starting a community back home, at Trivandrum.
But once we were back, we both got pulled into quite a lot of stuff both at work and in our personal lives.

And gradually, all that plan became just a wish, without proper action to take it forward.

This meetup is for Drupal and/or open source enthusiasts. The idea behind this meetup is to create a platform for existing and new Drupalers to meet and share their ideas and thoughts. Knowledge sharing sessions will be held by the community members.
