Considerations when selecting a theme to use with panels

Posted by j. ayen green on February 27, 2011 at 8:18am

I was looking at the Omega 960gs theme, and came across the assertion that using it would preclude any need for using panels. After looking deeper into what the theme does, I'm fairly confident that while there is overlap, the theme doesn't do offer everything panels does. Not that it should...it -is- a theme.

Blank tabs being displayed - please help

Posted by jenifertucker on September 22, 2010 at 3:03pm

I'm learning Panels and come across a display problem that I don't know how to fix. Can anyone advise?

I've managed to set up a set of horizontal tabs, but rather than them open in place within the panel, I want to link the title displayed in the tab to the actual node so that the page is opened in full.

I clicked on a cog and selected "Link the node title to the node" and yes it works.

However, what I now get is a blank tab in between each of the 6 tabs I want.

Anyone have any ideas?

Passing arguments to add form inside a panel

Posted by Annakan on August 12, 2010 at 3:21pm

Hello

I am trying to avoid using "current user" and other contextual information that are plagued with subtles bugs and limitation.

So I wanted to pass explicite arguments to my add form inside a panel.

Is it possible to do that ?

That argument could be used to set a value in the form or whatever and I can to that in code, but first I need to be able to pass the argument to the add form and I can't find how to do that neither at the "add form" context creation nor when adding the form element to a "panel part" in a layout ...

Is there a way ? Am I missing something ?

How to create a Panel with an exposed form created with a View

Posted by chowdah on May 2, 2010 at 8:34pm

Is this even possible?

I am using panels 6.x-3.x-dev and the latest Views module. I am trying to make a directory search page with Panels and am having problems with the output of a form that I am creating by exposing the input with Views. The page would be made up of two panels - one a glossarized directory listing (this works fine in the panel), the other an exposed form for a proximity search and a taxonomy filter. I have the View created and it works fine - the view exists with display types 'Page' and 'Content Pane'. Both outputs work fine in the Views preview, and the Page display type works when I visit the page's set url.

When I try to add either of the View's outputs [page or content pane] in a panel, nothing displays when I preview the panel or visit the panel's url. When I add the page type to the panel, I use the "Override URL:" option to enter the path of the Panel Page.

Panels, Openpublish and custom frontpages

Posted by kenyan on April 20, 2010 at 3:36pm

I am using OP 2.0.
I basically do not mind the stock OP theme. But I have absolutely no use for content regions that will not collapse when empty for one and I would prefer a slightly different layout.
So I figured that instead of going the subtheme way ( I lack the skills), I would simply create a new Panel page, set to be my homepage, disable the frontpage context (it has its own idea of regions as far as I am concerned), load content just the way I want and .......
Well, not voila!

Showing content based on URL alias

Posted by boaz_r on December 8, 2009 at 1:39pm

Hi,

Am I missing something or what? : I'm looking for a way to make panels 3 show content (node) based on the url alias - to match the requested URL with the URL alias of the node.
Can this be done with panels 3 ? (This is D6 with the latest CCK, panels, ctools modules to date).

Thanks!

Customized user blog page: Panels, views, and arguments

Posted by spangaroo on November 18, 2009 at 11:03am

I've been trying to figure this one out for over a week now so thought I'd come to the Group to see if anyone might be able to offer a solution.

I've attached screenshots of my settings to hopefully make it easier to understand.

I've enabled the built in System Page (blog_user) that allows a User's blog posts to be easily viewed. I chose a Flexible panel and put 3 Views inside, (user_posts, User being viewed, and User Tweets). That part was simple enough and great built-in functionality.

I also added a shot of the View a reference.

Displaying multiple pages using one View page and one Panels 3 page.

Posted by Abeaudrian on October 8, 2009 at 3:15am

Hi All
I created a content type 'Island Profile' (to store different related types of island specific information for numerous islands) using CCK. I am using Views to query the database, to output the different types of corresponding 'Island Profile' specific information, into numerous view panes within a single view for each island. Finally I am using Panels 3 to layout the created view panes for the 'Island Profile' content type into a panel page.

I have a few questions;

Question 1.
