So far there has been a lively discussion about docker and docker-related tools. In the first BoF session people agreed that we all would like to continue the conversation in a Drupal Group.

The global DevOps community exists to explore the concepts of process and management in a digital world. For many people, this immediately causes thoughts of automation, deployments, virtualization, source control systems, and monitoring. For others, DevOps is reminiscent of the factory processes the digital world has blurred. It becomes a conversation of workflow management, bottlenecks, team interdependence, and being able to accurately plot states of a project.

This is not as random of a question as it sounds. In an effort to continue providing quality speakers and content for upcoming Drupal events I'm reaching out to the community for help. Who, in or out of the Drupal community, do you think of when you hear the word DevOps? Who are the shops and practitioners that shine when it comes to this mysterious word?

Any help collecting this list is greatly appreciated!

I'm curious which tool is generally preferred for infrastructure management: Puppet or Chef?

Here's a rough unofficial analysis of high level points.

Puppet

• Older product
• Stronger community than Chef
• Significant number of community modules https://github.com/search?q=puppet (1947) at current count http://forge.puppetlabs.com/
• Written in Ruby but requires a Ruby DSL to really use the language.

Chef

• Newer product
• Less community support and activity.
