Designs for unified Blocks and layouts UI

As you may or may not know Blocks and layouts is a design problem that I have been working on for the better part of three years since I first started working at Acquia. Back then Jeff Noyes, Dries and myself were just focused on introducing drag-drop blocks to Drupal Gardens and didn't have a view to the wider problem of layouts because really at that point seven was not even out and it just seemed too big a problem to solve.

Nytt drupalprojekt

Hej,

Jag är projektledare och initiativtagare för ett lite större webbprojekt som vi tänkt oss lägga på just Drupal. Men det stora problemet är att varken jag eller någon av de nuvarande projektmedlemmarna har någon djupare kunskap om Drupal. Klart man gjort lite småsiter i det osv, men det känns som att vi behöver lite mer kött på benen. Har kört projekt i t.ex. EPiServer innan, men på inrådan av både vänner/kollegor och den rådande ekonomiska situationen så är vi väldigt inne på att välja Open-Source istället.

Here are a few sketchy to interpret, yet interesting tests results benchmarking Prototype v. jQuery, by Claudio Cicali. The blogger's conclusions: Despite rumors on the internet, jQuery is not slower than Prototype.

Automation what has been done so far

After some discussions with my mentor Thomas and other people on devel mailling list I have created sort of a first prototype.

How it works

One part of this module is used to catch the patches and submites them to other part of the module via xml-rpc call. The second part receives this call and tests the patch. Results are stored in a new node on test server node address is returend by xml-rpc call response.
