Sass Mixins for Zen theme overrides

Posted by barraponto on October 7, 2010 at 6:36pm

I have written a Sass base file with variables and mixins meant to ease the override of Zen layout-fixed.css
http://gist.github.com/614645

It provides variables like $zen-content-position, which controls whether the content comes before the two sidebars, in the middle of the sidebars or after them. other variables control sidebars and content width, and navigation height.

The idea behind this sass file is making Zen easier to manipulate without editing any of the provided css files.

Zen theme hacking

Posted by samirnassar on November 3, 2009 at 9:22pm

I'm hankering for a couple few hours of friendly Zen theme building with like-minded buddies.

Options:

Coffeee shop with loud, obnoxious people and bad internet

OR

My place where the intertubes are strong, the tea flows like the rivers of Babylon and where a 16-year old cat basks in the sun.

This can be a joint project or separate projects where we get to benefit from asking one another questions and getting feedback.

Fluid Grid Zen subtheme

Posted by samirnassar on October 4, 2009 at 8:03pm

Based on fluid960gs and Zen 960 I cobbled together the start of Zen fluid960. It is pretty darn rough at this stage. For example, the push and pull classes from zen_ninesixty aren't implemented at all so moving display of blocks out of the source order isn't working.

So, what’s so great about Zen?

Posted by nonprofit on October 28, 2008 at 6:44am

Hi!

Pardon, the combative title...this is a post with serious intent. I'm a themer who up until this point has preferred to start from scratch. (My tpl.php files validate to xthml 1.0 strict standards.) I've used Zen before and find it much easier to start with a blank canvas. I've reviewed the code from some really beautiful high-profile sites and noticed Zen was the parent theme. I recently attended a Drupal camp and Zen was hyped by a developer I really respect. So, now I'm starting to rethink using it.

When/why is it better than rolling your own page templates?

Thanks!

-NP

Any Zen Themers

Posted by Keith Hurst on June 9, 2008 at 10:42pm

Hi again,

not really sure what happening with this group at the moment but I'm needing some face to face advice from someone if they have some time. I've been messing around with blocks and tpl files but still a site I constructed still has Drupal written all over it and I want to break free of that mould.

I'm messing around with Zen and need someone to handhold me in forming the initial layouts and styles, so any CSS people who have used Zen would be ideal.

In return... well I'm sure something can be worked out, contact me here or privately.

Thanks
Keith

Share Everest 08 Hy guys,

I just want to inform you that the Italian expedition Share Everest 2008 is using a Zen themed Drupal to publish news, photos and videos about all of the events happening on the top of the world! Site's layout isn't a masterpiece due to limited budget, but it works greatly, have a look here: http://www.share-everest.org.

Bye bye ;)
