We have an alpha release ready of VoiceBox, our Knight Drupal Initiative project -

The project is a community media/feed aggregator/news space/conversation space. A high level run down of the featureset includes:

• Customizable user profiles;
• Discussions with embedded images, audio, and video;
• Publishing pictures, audio, and video via mobile devices and/or email;
• Content aggregation via rss;

Pete P-O presented on the Open Media toolset during the last meet-up, and we've finally settled on a date for a meet-and-greet for anyone who wants to learn more about the project or get involved. The Open Media Project partners and raSANTIAGO are hosting the social at 3:30 p.m.

When the Knight Foundation announced the Knight Drupal Initiative at DrupalCON Boston, we entered a partnership with the Drupal community.

Our goal was to establish an open, ongoing grant application process for the purpose of creating better open source web applications.

The last six months have been phenomenal. Too successful, in fact. We currently have six proposals under funding review, with over 600,000ドル (USD) in potential grants for Drupal projects.

In the current draft of the proposal review guide, we set the following standard:

When we were first starting, hitting this threshold was often a challenge. Now that we have some momentum, we have some larger and more visible projects. Do we need to revise the rating standard?

Making Drupal easier to find, assess and use seem like good fits for the Knight Drupal Initiative.

We all know that there will be a lot of work to do in the redesign, both for theming as well as module development. How about lining up funding for sustained development time and perhaps things like hosted d.o. redesign sprints?

We have been holding meetings on the first Thursday of every month.

In September, I will be on a plane from Budapest back to the US, so someone else will need to run the meeting or we will need to reschedule.
