Drupal barnraising event on February 4, 2011

Posted by siliconvalet on December 2, 2010 at 11:36pm

There is a barnraising event that will be held for a foundation here in South Florida. The Foundation generates funding for a variety of charitable organizations including United Cerebral Palsy, The Urban League of Broward County, The Boys and Girls Clubs and The American Diabetes Association, to name a few.

We will be building a website for them, from scratch, in one day.

We could use as many drupal volunteers as possible.
It will be held at the Hard Rock on February 4th, 2011 and attendees include current and previous Miami Dolphins players as well as the cheerleaders!

Barnraising Best Practices?!

Posted by ianrhett on April 27, 2010 at 7:21am

I'm organizing a "barnraising" for a Nashville non-profit in July and I'm soliciting best practices and experience from anyone who's participated in or helped organize a 24 or 48 hour sprint to build a website with a group of volunteers? I've found two Drupalcamps where this happened, so far. Anyone else?

Extreme Makeover recap

Posted by smokinggoat on November 28, 2006 at 10:26pm

So we had the Drupal Extreme Makeover a couple of weekends ago. We'll be hosting a follow-up DrupalMentor session for these new users to learn more about managing their sites. In the meantime, below are some notes I took on what we accomplished (I'm not linking to the sites because the new ones are done, and the old ones - well, they didn't like them anyway, right?)

Thanks to: SF Nonprofit Tech Center (and Heather); Michael McCarthy, John Lorance and CompuMentor, John Kenyon, David G and CivicSpace on Demand, the California Consumer Protection Foundation (who funded this); the Makeover Artists (Mark, Jason, Neil and Courtney) and the nonprofit staffers themselves - and anyone else we forgot. :-)

Posted by zacker on June 6, 2006 at 5:24pm

At the Yearly Kos convention on June 8th the CivicSpace community will be teaching a workshop on building Drupal based netroots campaign websites. The workshop will be one full day and we will be teaching participants at every skill level. The day will culminate in a barn raising of a real world netroots campaign website thought up by the DailyKos community and built by workshop participants and facilitators.

For those of you unfamiliar with US politics the DailyKos.com community website is the highest trafficked political blog in the world. The YearlyKos convention is the first annual DailyKos community conference.
