UK Cookie Law - are there now thousands of "illegal" Drupal 6 sites in the UK?

Posted by andy inman on October 25, 2012 at 9:53am

Drupal 6 tends to set an anonymous cookie by default. I recently did a quick check of UK sites and found many which are indeed setting cookies but don't have one of the available compliance modules installed. From my understanding of the law, the standard D6 anonymous cookie may be exempt if it could be proven that:

  • it is required for proper use of the site (probably not the case) and

  • isn't used in a way that would identify the user on returning to the site such that displayed contained would be customised for them in some way.

Installing Drush on Win 7 so it runs in a Git Bash Window

Posted by densolis on October 19, 2012 at 4:34am

All,

I noticed that quite a few people in the Drupal Easy Career Starter Program could not get drush to work in their git bash windows.

This is because the software was not installed with the correct option! When you install drush using the Drush 5.7 Windows Installer, the attached screen will appear.

If you notice, there are three boxes that are "X" out. The second box / line is titled "Register Environmental Variables". You should un "X" this box. When you click on this box, you will receive a drop down menu. Choose "Will be installed on local hard drive".

Oops - System told me first two were rejected as spam.

Posted by densolis on October 19, 2012 at 4:27am

All,

Sorry about the multiple posting. The first two times I submitted the article, the system told me that my article was rejected as spam because I did not get the letters right.

So I entered entered it again, and received the same error message. So I submitted it again and use the verbal version and it was finally accepted. Well, come to find out - even though Drupal Groups told me the first two were rejected as spam, the articles were actually accepted.

This is probably a bug. It should not tell me that it was rejected if the article was accepted.

Donate functionality for NGO

Posted by shenagarg on February 27, 2012 at 8:07am

I am building a website for NGO. I would like to have a page for donate which asks for credit card information just like https://www.habitat.org/cd/giving/donate.aspx?link=141 and preferably recurring donation.

I searched for modules and found paypal_donate module but it takes the user away from the website. I want the user to give the details of credit card on same webpage.

I am not aware of how to implement it but I think it needs SSL integration.
