Latest updates

Posted by dasjo on January 25, 2018 at 1:14pm

Hi There,

This group has been quiet for some time. The best place to read updates is the Rules 8.x Roadmap issue
https://www.drupal.org/node/2245015

There we announce and post updates about our regular initiative meetings.

Best,
Josef

Help for Newbies for Rules 3 (for D8)

Posted by SandStorm on August 21, 2017 at 9:19am

It seems that the Rules community is very tied up with getting Rules 3 past the alpha stage and thus it is difficult to get documentation and help for it. It is very challenging to find solution using Google, Youtube, Reddit, IRC and StackExchange (the usual ports-of-call)

Can we use this Discussion for people who are new to Rules, particularly to Rules for D8. The target audience are more site builders than coders.

We can also aggregate any links we might find online which may help.

Unable to get a data value.

Posted by 10us on March 7, 2017 at 10:31am

Hi,

Since I updated to Drupal core 7.54 I have an issue with Rules.

The situation:
- I have an action component with parameter training_id;
- this action component loads a list of Entities from a VBO view using the training_id as filter;

Since the update I get the message:

Unable to get a data value. Error: Invalid data value given. Be sure it matches the required data type and format. Value at registration(): .

As far as I can see, the parameter training_id gets lost on the way.

Need General help with Rules (referenced node)

Posted by calefilm on November 6, 2016 at 8:51pm

I am really lost... I am trying to find a place that I can get help with my Rules issue. I am unable to refer a referenced node (a referenced content type) and all of it's fields back to my current node (current content type) like i was able to do very easily in Drupal 6's rules.

I feel like I'm looking at a very dynamic beast as compared to the simplicity of how D6's rules was designed.

Here is my issue: https://www.drupal.org/node/2825225

Webform rules - delete duplicate webform

Posted by KoshaK on July 22, 2016 at 8:29am

Never use rules before and a bit lost there... here is what I'm trying to do. It may sounds a bit strange, but...

Drupal 7

I have two Webforms. let call it form1 and form2. Webform Rules module installed.

form1 is located on front page with two fields [name] and [email] .

form2 is a big form.

when submitting form1 the data transferred to form2, so the form2 has the [name] and [email] pre-filled. Data from form1 saved.... now, when user submits form2 we will have two different submissions from form1 and from form2 with the same [name] and [email]

Event: served a private File

Posted by blausch on May 14, 2016 at 2:45pm

A short description of the problem:
Settings: File System --> Defalut download method --> Private local files served by Drupal

A user copies the url of a private PDF-File (not his file) into the browser or the user has bookmarkt the url of the private PDF-Dokument, and clicks the bookmark. Especially the user does not come from a "normal" drupal-node.

I would like to trigger this event.

Background: When opening the pdf document, I would like to check the roles and permission of the user in a separate module.

Is there a way to trigger this event ?

Greetings
Berthold

Can Rules do this with email?

Posted by matt.rad on March 12, 2016 at 7:20pm

I am using Rules to send out reminder emails to users who have not logged in after X days, the idea being that we want them to come back and do stuff on our site.

These messages might get a bit monotonous, so it would be great if I could create a pool of possible messages to be sent with different copy or calls to action to re-engage users so they are not always getting the same messages.

Can Rules send a random message, like Views can display a random node of a type, when reacting on a certain event?

User and node params as regular autocomplete

Posted by drupalprojects on January 14, 2016 at 12:59pm

Hi

I have posted this in issue queue, but it got no attention, so try to get an answer here.
In my module I implement hook_rules_action_info few parameters including node and user.
It works, but only allows me to select from current logged in user on the action configuration screen. I want to be able to specify username and get a list of users to choose from. Same for the node - autocomplete only allows me to choose from current node while I want to see node autocomplete field where I can start typing node title and then select from list.
Is it possible? If yes - how to do that?

Trying to figure out the relation between Rules and BPMN2.0

Posted by mixel on December 28, 2015 at 8:58pm

The Fluxkraft UI proposals (see the Milano 2015 presentation) got me thinking if BPMN2.0 could be used as an UI for rules. It would be cool if a standard like that could be used and there is a good JS version on github you can check the demon on github to see how BPMN interface looks and why Fluxkraft UI made me think of this.
