Public Sector Exchange

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

DPSX via its events brings the leading experts, entrepreneurs, public sector intrapreneurs and visionaries together to discuss the future of the Drupal in the UK Public Sector.
The group is cross departmental and its focus is across the public sector, from innovation in healthcare, DAAS for centrally administered sites, solutions for the Ministry of Justice to creating cross county sites for addressing youth employment.

The aim is to use real-world business cases to engage the audience across the private and public sector in brainstorming solutions to the adoption and maturation of Drupal based services and solutions.

New Website Development for Isles of Scilly

Posted by gdhp on October 17, 2013 at 3:19pm

Here at the Council of the Isles of Scilly we have just gone out for quotations for a brand new website.

More information can be found on our current site at: http://www.scilly.gov.uk/procurement/contractop.htm

It could be quite an interesting project. We are the UK's smallest local authority, so building a new website creates unique challenges - not least a limited budget.

I am aware we are not the first LA to move to Drupal. But in case it is useful I will update here every so often with updates on our progress.

Planning Integration for Drupal

Posted by gdhp on May 31, 2013 at 11:40am

At the Isles of Scilly (the UK's smallest Local Authority) we are currently looking at redesigning our website.

I am wondering if anyone knows of how other Local Government Drupal websites have integrated planning applications into their site. Options that I have seen elsewhere so far seem to be incredibly pricey or fail to offer basic features (eg commenting on planning applications). I was wondering if there were any good examples people couple point me in the direction of.

Thanks,

George

LGNL Import

Posted by wespacker on April 25, 2013 at 12:40pm

I've been thinking of developing a D7 module to import the Local Government Navigation List (LGNL) and create the taxonomies/menus etc. I'm just wondering whether there's a demand for such a module.

Is there anyone here who builds local government websites on Drupal who could use this functionality?

Collaboration on best practice?

Posted by pmackay on April 3, 2013 at 12:21pm

I'm wondering, do we need to explore how we can use a common space to exchange ideas and guidelines on best practice, and then separately show how Drupal can be used to solve those problems, if we have examples of that?

Many councils will be using other web tech. If we are looking to create improvements, will it be easier to generate conversations around this topic if we look at how services can be improved in a general sense?

DKAN for data portals

Posted by pmackay on March 25, 2013 at 6:05pm

Also wanted to add some info about the DKAN data portal distribution:

"Based on the Drupal-based "DKAN" variant of CKAN software, and combined with new low-cost multi-tenant Drupal hosting capabilities, we think it is the best way to rapidly cause an explosion of local government data to become published and discoverable online in a sustainable standards-compliant manner."
