Which weekend should DrupalCampNYC 2008 be on?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I won't be in NYC until

Posted by MattKelly on December 6, 2007 at 6:57pm

I won't be in NYC until June- middle of May, at the earliest. Last year it was during the summer, so why not now?

Last year there was one in

Last year there was one in January and one in July. I think they're trying to do two a year.

Sorry about that, didn't

Sorry about that, didn't realize. Then I'll definitely be attending the summer camp!

The poll design doesn't

Posted by fureigh on December 7, 2007 at 2:56am

The poll design doesn't allow multiple selections, so I'll say it here: Please not January 26/27, February 2/3 or February 9/10.

Looking forward to the next DrupalCampNYC!

Having a baby

Posted by marketanomaly on December 7, 2007 at 5:06pm

My wife and I are having a baby round about February 17th, so I won't be able to attend for any of the February dates. I still plan to provide organizational support to the extent possible.

Nay to Easter

Posted by Advomatic on December 9, 2007 at 5:00pm

Doing it Easter weekend is probably a bad idea for folks who are in any way religious.

that would be March 23

Posted by ericg on December 9, 2007 at 5:24pm

being rather non-religious and having never celebrated easter, I had to look up the date.

Figured I'd post it just in case anyone else is a heathen like me ;)

I guess you are right and conflict with any important religious holiday is a good reason to not schedule our event.

Would you see it as problematic if the event was a one day event on the saturday before easter?

Sorry I missed that...

Posted by tom_o_t on December 9, 2007 at 5:34pm

Somehow I missed that Easter was one of those weekends, yet managed to catch President's day, which as a foreigner means even less to me... Thanks for posting the date Eric - I don't seem to be able to edit the poll to put the date in there.

SXSW

Posted by bexecho on December 9, 2007 at 5:14pm

Just to throw this out there, SXSW is March 7 - 16 and I know a bunch of Drupal folks are often there. I certainly will be. Folks should consider dropping by BarCamp Austin that first weekend if you are in town.

Earlier is better

Posted by ivanb on December 10, 2007 at 3:28pm

If there are to be two BarCamps during 2008, the first one should be early as possible IMHO. Having one in March followed by a summer barcamp in July would mean less time in between. Besides, it's already been awhile since the last one!

Earliet but not Jan :-)

Posted by MacRonin on December 12, 2007 at 4:05pm

Unfortunately the poll doesn't allow mult choices. In general earlier is better, along with avoiding holidays(esp Easter). But the Jan weekend looks like the one I am sure I can't make. The first two weekends in Feb (2&3 / 9&10) would be great, but I have no solid conflicts outside of Jan 23 & Easter.

February would be best

The earlier the better, looking forward to this years BarCamp, I may actually have something to present.

ranking instead?

Posted by Grammarian on December 18, 2007 at 4:11am

Could this be done by a ratings format - pick your top 3 dates or something like that, instead of a poll?

I'd prefer any date that is not in a school vacation week - Jan or first half of Feb or March.
