Hi, I just launched a new theme for TEDx events based on Acquia Marina at http://www.drupal.org/project/tedx
I had initially created it as a sub-theme but to make it easier for others to use it, I released it as an independent theme.
A detailed step-by-step list of changes I did to Acquia_Marina to turn it into TEDx theme is available at:

This list shows how easy it is to customize Acquia_Marina, incresing our apreciation and admiration for such a wonderful theme.

It is currently based on Acquia_Marina 2.0. As soon as v3.0 is out of beta I plan to release a 3.0 version of the TEDx theme.
