Central Illinois user group is forming...

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who might be interested, I'm trying to get a downstate user group going. It's the Central Illinois User Group at http://groups.drupal.org/central-illinois-drupal-users.

I'm still interested supporting or working together on Chicago events, too, if something more than a one hour meeting is going on. It's a bit too much to drive 2-3 hours each way for a one hour meeting :)

Don't know how many, if any, Drupal users there are downstate, but we'll see what happens :)

Spiffiness! Karen, if you need an extra lure to get people to come, I might be talked down for a weekend event. I may even be able to drag Jeff with me. :-)

That would be great! We have

That would be great!

We have lots of universities down here. I sent an email to the computer sciences department of several of them asking if they or their students might be interested, and noted that there is a big demand for Drupal developers. I figure if we don't already have Drupal users, maybe we can create some :)

Creating Drupal users

I'm trying to take the "create more users" approach in Wisconsin too.

We're going to have a one day DrupalCamp (1/19/2008 http://barcamp.org/DrupalCampWI) to try and form community. I'd like to imagine that between Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Central Illinois we could have a 150+ person DrupalCamp pretty easily.

Anyway, good luck Karen. If there is anything I can do to help out the (Meta) Midwest Drupal User Group (s) let me know.
