Being a Drupal parent can create some unique situations (example: How does one toddler proof an office? Or maximize moments while working?) Here are a couple of my favorite tools? What are yours?
-
Kinesis Freestyle for Mac with 20in separation...this way my daughter can sit on my lap and I can still type. I'll play her favorite show in iTunes or she'll ready Using Drupal in the space on the desk...she only messes with the sound and brightness keys so far
-
Alpha Baby for Mac (when she was not able to destroy keyboards this free software was awesome there is also a windows verion)
-
Harvest for time tracking...I love the Harvest widget for those quick stops for cuddles and getting snacks etc.

I use my laptop as my primary
I use my laptop as my primary development environment, so I have my laptop on the desk with keyboard and mouse in a pull out under the desk. As soon as my two year old comes in the door I quickly unplug my keyboard and switch off my mouse.
It been working great until today when she got bored and climbed up on something only when trying to get down to smack the underside of her chin on the corner of the desk. Needless to say she now has a Dora band-aid that looks like a chin strap.
I'll definitely have to get some shows on my computer that I can run off my second monitor, thanks for the tip Sarah!
Does anyone know of a good Drupal module for time tracking / task management? I had used storm in the past but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.
Time Tracking
Harvest works well for time tracking...definitely worth the cost, and they have lightweight free version. www.getharvest.com
Basecamp is okay for task management, it's a good start. However, we're working on an Open Atrium combo to deal with our heavier projects. In the meantime Basecamp is a good in-between. :)
Highrise is also a good way to keep track of leads and communication, and something we'll keep around for awhile. It really streamlines things when you get interrupted a lot you can remember what you said to whom when. (37signals.com for both Highrise and Basecamp links)
