Upgrade

I assume that overwriting on existing installation would work. Of course, we should be backing up folders and db.

Well, all I can say at this point is that - there're a lot of changes from 1.7.

Unfortunately, we have not had a chance to test and prepare 1.7 -> 2.0 upgrade instructions, yet. Considering most of us will be at DrupalCon next week. it will probably take couple weeks before we can publish well-tested update instructions.

The new support site is wonderful - just what I was hoping for. Any chance of getting a peak at the new theme (the subtheming documentation is a sight for sore eyes.)

Site Suggestion: OP Site Gallery

Posted by ithacaindy on April 16, 2010 at 1:48pm

A suggestion to improve the usability of the support site: create a gallery (both corporate and user-built) of sites using OP - it would be both inspirational and give an idea of the platform's flexibility.

First Impressions

Posted by ithacaindy on April 16, 2010 at 3:25pm

After installing OP, my first impression is I'm speechless. The design is great; gone are the blocks that you had to work around or fiddle with - now there is a beautifully clean and open canvas upon which to place your content. Hats off to everyone involved. After a bit more testing, I'll be moving my publication to OP 2.0.

Replacing Default Ads?

Posted by ithacaindy on April 16, 2010 at 3:58pm

How do I replace the default ads, such as the leaderboard on top? Where do I look?

I just installed it, and set it up as a mult-install... so whats the secret?

very nicely themed!

Now my dilemma is, how do I include this upgrade into my current site without breaking it?

Signal, ithecaindy, thank you for the kind words and suggestions.

Signal,

there will be update instructions for 1.7 -> 2.0 released after DrupalCon (~2 weeks).

Very nice. I just just did a clean install of this and noticed i received some php errors on the way:

Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/xxxxxxx/sites/all/modules/openpublish_core/openpublish_core.module on line 118.

and after that error i get a php error for every view that's trying to be created:

View name 'events' is already taken
View name 'multimedia' is already taken
View name 'resources' is already taken

...etc

Anyone else experiencing this? I did 2 clean installs and each install produced the same errors.

Thanks,

I didn't receive those errors

Posted by ithacaindy on April 16, 2010 at 9:47pm

I didn't receive those errors when doing a clean install today. However, I did experience an error during the installation step after specifying the database information. The error was this:

An HTTP error 0 occurred. http://dru.ithacaindy.com/install.php?locale=&profile=openpublish&id=2&o...

I emptied my database and restarted the installation and it completed successfully. So far, I've received no errors after installation and tweaking my site.

Mustang302,

there must be other errors before that in the error log. Do you have access to the error log? Can you share the very first error message in the error log during installation?

Also - did you verify that your server meets minimal requirements posted here: http://openpublishapp.com/requirements ?

I had previously deleted the db and the account i used to test the install on. I just reinstalled it all and still received those errors, and only the errors below are the ones in the logs. I'm on a pretty beefy dedicated box and meet all those requirements. I should add that i'm using pressflow as my core.

Installation went flawlessly. The fresh look of the theme is impressive. Those who wants to have a look at it, please go to http://www.op.nishorga.com/ but don't try to break my server ;)

I am sure I cannot wait 2 weeks to get the update instruction. I will give it a try during this weekend.

Can you list all the patched modules in OP2.0? Are they the same as in 1.7?

Enable Contact Menu Item?

Posted by ithacaindy on April 17, 2010 at 2:49am

This is a simple question - so simple I can't find the answer. I want to add a "Contact" link to the TopMenu so that people can use the sitewide contact. I've enabled the Contact module, set the user permissions, but I don't see how to add the internal contact function to the menu item. Any help?

Follow irakli's comment below. Go to Primary menu, then add an item. In the path, put contact. That should work.

That worked (although I put it in Top Menu, rather than Primary.) For some reason (Perhaps because I was working in offline mode) whenever I put "contact" in the path mode, the system would reject it.

Twitter Feed Bug?

i will check on that By the way there's much easier way also available using Twitter Pull module, if all you need is a block somewhere Twitter Pull is what displays list of OP tweets on the homepage, in OP 2.0 base theme.

Just for your information, I tried a test update to 2.0 worked fined, except:

at first there was table error message because of ckeditor,
step 1: in modules I disable OP AUDIO and saved,
step 2: re-enable OP AUDIO
problem solved

the other issue was on the main page right content, I had to remove the twitter line in

<?php
print twitter_pull_render ('@openpublish', t('Our Tweets'), 3, 'op_homepage_tweets');
?>
from page-front.tpl.php

Hope it can help out :)

Just curious if we can get the direction to upgrade from 1.7 to 2.0...
