Hi all,

Who would be up for an all-day coding event on May 29th (a Saturday)?

We could get together and build a charity site, a web app, a... well, anything really. Ideas are welcome!

This is a great way for us to learn from each other, and I think it would be a lot of fun. Please let me know if you are in, and how you think you could best contribute to the project (design, content, site building, theming, module development).

Perhaps some sponsors might be willing to contribute to a pizza fund even. :)

Sounds great...

I would love to but, think we might move it to May 22? I think May 29 is memorial day weekend.

Good point. June 5 anyone?

The 5th works for me. Is there a way to set the same day each month, like the second Tuesday or something? I know some organizations do that.

Sorry. Wrong post.

I thought I was replying to a monthly meeting... I'll go back to sleep.

We could easily turn out a site for a charity in a day. If we're hunting for a worthy non-profit, I've got a few that may be interested.

As for a code sprint, I'm definitely interested.

Unless I can lug my imac with me, would it be possible to setup a freenode channel for the sprint?

Possible, yes. Beneficial...

Possible, yes. Beneficial... not so much. Sort of defeats the purpose of a live event, and I doubt anyone at the event would interact via irc during it. I bet someone would loan you a laptop.

http://www.fortbendwomenscenter.org/

Their mission: "To assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children to achieve safety and self-sufficiency, while striving to prevent violence against women."

If there is interest, we'll get the conversation going at this end.

Sounds like a good suggestion. I'd like to see several more suggestions and then have the group take a vote on the one to support.

If we select a Fort Bend County 501(C)3 charity, Matocha & Associates will be happy to donate a years hosting (including Drupal 6.x updates) to sweeten the deal.

That would be awesome! You

That would be awesome! You are correct though. We should probably look at a few non-profits, but this one looks good to me.
