Hello Texas Drupalers!

Are you going to DrupalconSF? Interested in saving some money on lodging? I've been looking into options for cheap lodging and unless I do couch surfing I'll probably get a bed at a hostel. I found some great options on Hostel World with rates around 20ドル/night, but I wanted to see how interested people were interested in sharing a private room. Some hostels are well within walking distance of the Moscone Center, include free wifi & free breakfast.

Kayak suggests arriving on the 15th and leaving on the 23rd (best rates +/- 3 days) to get airfare for 232ドル*. That works perfectly for me because I need to be there on the 17th for volunteer orientation and I wanted to get there a day before that just to have a chance to explore the area. I'm flexible on the departure date, but if it's cheap to stay a little longer it might be nice to work remotely from an exotic location. :-)

*San Jose is 199,ドル but the shuttle from SJ to SF is 80ドル.

Lodging

I am interested. I thought it would be great to have a DrupalCon room at a hostel. The only issues is different schedules. My plan is to go from the 17th to the 23rd

There is a guy here who is staying at a hostel http://sf2010.drupal.org/forum/22/room-share
Might make sense to post something there as well.

Yelp has some reviews
http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=hostel&ns=1&find_loc=San+Francisco,...

I started a public google map as well.

Flight

Jetblue flys non-stop AUS-SFO for 249ドル so that's what I think I will do.

Schedules

Yeah, the schedules are an issue, but not a major one. I could book a single room for a couple nights until everyone else arrives. That thread on the sf2010 site looks helpful, thanks!

Amsterdam Hostel

Posted by davidneedham on March 12, 2010 at 7:35am

It looks like I'll probably be staying at the Amsterdam Hostel. Free Wifi, free waffle breakfast, 17ドル/night for a bed in a dorm room.

I'd still like to hook up with some people to arrange a private room though, for at least part of the time I'll be there (17-22nd?). If this is anything like past Drupalcons we'll probably be getting up early and getting back pretty late. That's not really a big deal, but I don't want to bother the other ppl in the room.

EDIT: The Amsterdam looks good, but reviews turn up tons of cases of bedbugs. I guess I'll pony up 26ドル/night and stay at the USA Hostels. Still free breakfast, wifi, stellar reviews, even better location, and still cheaper than a motel.

It looks like During the days

Posted by davidneedham on March 29, 2010 at 2:19pm

It looks like During the days of Drupalcon I'm sleeping somewhere nearby for free from someone at http://www.couchsurfing.org. I'll be getting there a few days early, so before then I'll be staying with someone for ~25ドル/night from http://www.airbnb.com. After Drupalcon, I may do either of those two options, or just find one of the hostels.
