I can't figure out how to customize the dashboard for when users login. I tried the following:

/admin/structure/panelizer/user/user.page_manager/content

This customized the dashboard for the administrator, but not the users.

Also, my goal is to put a files & folders widget on the dashboard that will list all the files the users has access to in all spaces they are members of. Is this possible? Any assistance in achieving this would be appreciated.

Thank you.

I think the the correct location for this is: admin/config/people/accounts/panelizer/page_manager/content, and yes you can add the files widget to it and set it to show "all spaces".

Didn't work

I tried your location and again, it modified the dashboard for the administrator but not for any other users.

Clear the caches and chack

Clear the caches and check again.

Did not work

I went to \admin\configuration\development\performance and clicked "Clear All Caches". Then I logged out and in as a regular user and again, the dashboard changes were not visible.

FYI: This is a development site on pantheon. All I did was add a static text element on the content to see if the changes are occurring. The text is not showing up on the dashboard except for the administrator.

Why not Pages

I think you should try with the Pages (admin/structure/pages)

admin/structure/pages

This one is even stranger, I don't see anyway to edit the dashboard here.

Thank you everyone for your responses and help. I can't believe how difficult this is. There is nothing simple or intuitive about aministration. Very frustrating.

Got it working

So the original path does customize the Dashboard. The annoying thing it seems to only work on new users. The existing users don't seem to get the dashboard changes.

the original path works

Hi,

I just tried it on my own site and it worked, changes made on the default dashboard is reflected in other existing user accounts dashboard. I suggest you check that the content you added to the dashboard is something non-admin users are permitted to view.

Overridden Page Templates

Hi

I think it is like you said. Changes to the default dashboard are applied to all dashboards of users that have NOT changed something on their dashboard.
Once the users change something on their dashboard and save it, their dashboard is overridden. You can find all overridden panopoly pages here: /admin/panopoly/pages.

If User "USER25" customized his dashboard you will find something like /de/users/user25 (or whatever path alias you have set up for users) in the bottom section (OVERRIDDEN PAGE TEMPLATES) of /admin/panopoly/pages and you are able to revert his dashboard to the default dashboard. (But that is something you probably don't want to do, as the user would loose all of his customizations he has made).

Hope that helps
Jan

I am also looking to customize the page that opens when they login...in my case, I want them to login and go to a space's page - is that possible?
