BDUG in 2016

A new year is upon us and we’ve done some reflection on the past year of BDUG, which has inspired us to implement some changes.

  • We are planning to host fewer BDUG sessions in 2016. Tentatively the following dates are scheduled: 1/26, 3/22, 6/21, 8/16
  • Time: 12pm - 1pm
  • New Location: We are moving the sessions to the Banway Building, 2111 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94720, 4th floor conference room 441B

This year's meetings will cover Drupal as well as some of its related technologies, possibly including general development, testing, deployment, automation, etc. Not every meeting will include a formal presentation. Some will be more informal Q&A or working sessions.

BDUG 1/26/2016: Kicking the tires of the Drupal VM

In this meeting we’ll take a look at the Drupal VM (Vagrant, VirtualBox and Ansible). Brian Wood will talk about installing the Drupal VM on Mac OS X. Bring a laptop if you’d like to follow along. (There are some installation pitfalls to be aware of -- notes on workarounds will be provided.) We will also look at how the Drupal VM can be integrated with Pantheon development workflows, specifically how can we get a Pantheon site loaded into Drupal VM with a minimum amount of time and effort.

NOTE: Banway is a locked building. Someone should be in the lobby to let you in and key you up to the 4th floor. If no one is available to let you in and key you up, please call the conference room directly at 510-642-1597, and someone will come down to let you in.

About Berkeley Drupal Users Group meetings:

  • We are making an effort to select topics that directly benefit UC Berkeley employees using Drupal.
  • Please let us know if you are interested in presenting at BDUG.
  • Discussion format: Meetings will not always be formal presentations. Some meetings will be discussions centered around a predefined topic. Discussions will be initiated by a leader who will briefly present an overview of the topic possibly including demonstrations or supporting materials. The session leaves ample space for organic discussion. Participants are encouraged to:
    • Respond in these forums with ideas for the present meeting or future meetings
    • Bring problems encountered, questions and contributions to the meeting
