Only local images are allowed. You are invited to an ice cream social in Central Square, Cambridge, at Toscanini's Ice Cream on July 11, starting at 7PM. We'll try to get seats at the legendary Big Table for us open source people, the owner recommended we eat open face sandwiches to suit the theme. There is free wifi, Red Line subway access, tasty ice cream, coffee, and a great crowd. There is no agenda, no program, just a chance to socialize and network with other Drupal users in the area. The party would likely move to a local pub as the night gets on. Here is a map.

Toscanini's is an excellent locally-oriented business and has donated tons of ice cream to non-profits all over Cambridge. The owner, Gus Rancatore, published his 25 years of memoirs (in only 35 pages) and its available for a mere 49 cents from Amazon. If you have any interest check it out.

Just in case I can't make it in person tomorrow, I just wanted to let everyone know that we (O'Reilly) are developing a Drupal book. If you're interested in being a technical reviewer, please drop me a line:

Ice cream? Ooof-- my waistline!

I missed last time, but will be there tonight. See you all then.

I only hope I can resist eating too much ice cream. My cycling times would suffer if it all went to my tummy.... ;-)

Request for Proposals

Description of Project:

The Peacework Magazine web site was converted from a static HTML site to a dynamic site so that it would be managed directly by magazine editors in the Cambridge office of AFSC, and so that it would be more searchable and useable by the readers. This project has been in progress for one year. We are looking for assistance to complete the conversion from the static Peacework site to a Drupal 5.x site.

This project does not require custom modules and requires minimal custom programming. We want to rely on existing Drupal modules and techniques as much as possible. We will require some design assistance in converting the current theme, as well as some changes to the original theme.

The finished Peacework Magazine site should meet the following requirements:

• A site that is useable by Peacework Magazine editors for uploading their own issues and making custom pages where necessary
• A community web site where Peacework readers can participate

Download the RFP. Contact information for the proposals is included in the document.

Note: Peacework Magazine is a project of AFSC. At this time the staff working on AFSC.org, the larger AFSC website, are also in the process of a search for a Content Management System. We would potentially like to work on both projects with the same vendor.

I'm a new Drupal Admin for an organization for which I am the Secretary.

I'm having a bit of a problem with the install, but I am still intent on doing a Drupal install and using it.

Thanks, and I hope to see you at new events.
