Start:
2015年01月26日 12:00 - 13:30 America/Los_Angeles
Event type:
User group meeting

Berkeley Drupal Users Group: January 26th, 12-1:30pm
WHERE: UC Berkeley Campus: D-Lab (356 Barrows)
MAP: http://groups.drupal.org/berkeley/map

NOTE: BDUG will take place at the D-Lab Convening Room (356 Barrows Hall).

Drush, a.k.a. "The Drupal Shell," is the command line and scripting interface for Drupal. Drush is a simple yet powerful tool that allows Drupal site developers and maintainers to perform a range of tasks, from simple to advanced.

Here are some examples of tasks that Drush will allow you to do on your Drupal site(s), quickly and easily, from the command line:

  • Run update.php, run cron, clear cache.
  • Download, enable, and update both core and contributed modules.
  • Scripts for process automation . . . including a few daring ideas.
  • For Drupal sites hosted on Pantheon, there is an additional tool available (Terminus), which uses Drush to perform these same tasks directly on the Pantheon server.

During Monday's BDUG, we will cover the following aspects of using Drush:

  • Intro and setup
  • Basic Drush commands
  • Pantheon and Terminus
  • Drush and scripting

About Berkeley Drupal Users Group meetings:

  • We are making an effort to select topics that directly benefit UC Berkeley employees using Drupal.
  • BDUG remains open to the non-UC Berkeley Drupal community. Please join us at our meetings. Please let us know if you are interested in presenting at BDUG.
  • Discussion format: Meetings will not always be formal presentations. Some meetings will be discussions centered around a predefined topic. Discussions will be initiated by a leader who will briefly present an overview of the topic possibly including demonstrations or supporting materials. The session leaves ample space for organic discussion. Participants are encouraged to:
    • Respond in these forums with ideas for the present meeting or future meetings
    • Bring problems encountered, questions and contributions to the meeting

We plan to try G+ hangouts

Posted by bwood on January 23, 2015 at 4:44pm

We plan to try G+ hangouts again. Google keeps changing their UI and we keep re-working our notes to facilitate setup. If we can't get it working in the 30 min before the meeting we'll have to abort. We'll try to post hangout info here.

We plan to use a backup screen capture solution in case G+ fails.

Live stream

Posted by annagaz on January 23, 2015 at 11:31pm

UPDATE on streaming: We did a practice run today with Google+ (since it can be tricky with multiple presenters and screen sharing) and everything went smoothly. We are currently planning on doing a live stream via Google+, provided everything goes smoothly again during setup on Monday.

We will post the Google+ and YouTube links here a few minutes before the event on Monday. We will also post the archived recording after the event, once it's ready.

Thanks!

Great. Thanks!
