Front page is blank -- Using context

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I create content and click promote to front page, but the usual content area front page stays blank.
Also, when I go into context, there appears to be a way to manipulate the left and right sidebars, above the content, below the content ... but not the actual content?
What am I missing?

Which are basically specialized articles (local news/national news/international news)

Did you create those news types?

If you have created those news types, then its a different story (probably). Otherwise any content (article, blog, resources, video etc.) that can be created by default should show up on the frontpage.

Another point to note is that when you open the frontpage context (no matter whether you do any change or not), make sure to click on the Path option and remove the html tags that are added to it. See this comment: http://groups.drupal.org/node/39592#comment-111926

Do you have a suggestion?
SHould I just go back to having articles, and find a different way to sort my news types for pages? Maybe with metatags?

What I don't understand is why it says "publish to front page," and it doesn't get published to the front page.

May be its related to theme, but usually, any content type if you properly put it in the Context, should show on the frontpage. How about if you add an article? Does it show on frontpage?

Just a thought, but maybe the user you are viewing with does not have permissions? Since home page uses Views extensively user would need "view all views" permission, and "view content" of course.

Any screenshot available for the default frontpage? I just want to know if you've installed OP completely.

Did the change the layout? I don't think its the default layout. If you haven't changed anything other than adding content, then your installations was not clean. If, however, you've changed it by yourself, then that's a different story.

Haven't changed the appearance, other than the adds, and moving blocks around.
I really don't want to reinstall ...
pinchhost isn't nearly as good as suggested, and their customer service has been non-existent.
But maybe that's what I need to do.

Front page missing if promted

Also noob to openpublish (not drupal)

Have you had a look at the 'View' - 'articles' where for example I found that the default for 'Homepage block' filter is 'Node type=unknown'

If you change this to eg 'Story' and/or 'Page' etc it/they will appear on the front page

rob_roy is right

I use Open Publish and it took me a while to get my head around what it was doing:

  • Use Views to create blocks and say what will appear in those blocks
  • Use Context to say what pages / sections of your site Blocks should appear on, and where they should be located (eg right side bar, header, footer etc)

Openpublish default home page specifies:

The blocks called "Homepage Featured Article" and "Home Page Articles" are told by the context called "openpublish-listing_pages-frontpage" to appear in the left side bar of your front page)

If you go to the View called "articles", it has a preconfigured Homepage block (which has the name Home Page Articles). You need to add your new content types using the Filter called Node:Type and Published (if you only want it to include artciles that have been marked as Published).

There is an equivalent block under articles for Homepage Featured Article too
