http://www.redmine.org/plugins/leave_management_system : A new plugin that just got registered a week back.
This plugin helps to manage employees leave account of an employer. Some features are, Role base access, Settings - Leave types, general settings, public holidays, Apply leave, Email notification, Monthly, YTD and yearly leave report
Perhaps now it should be much easier to integrate availability with bandwidth utilization and project milestones from within Redmine.

Extend Redmine API
Discussed in house with technology experts. There’s no out of box integration and redmine API would need to be looked at and extended. A quick solution, the redmine application can be embedded in an iframe within openatrium and presented. We have followed a similar approach with one of our inhouse products
