Maybe it's a bad idea? Maybe it can't be done without massive customization? IDK... Curious to hear some discussion around the topic though. Curious to talk to anyone interested in taking a swing at it.

Whatever happens, there needs to be an exchange that uses USD entries to calculate the coin totals. The current method in all exchanges requires one to enter several variations of coin value to try to get as close to the dollar amount one wants to buy/sell. It's infuriating that you can't just place an order of say 500ドル and hit sell or buy and be done. So many fractional amounts get lost which I assume is part of the business strategy of the existing exchanges. Shave a little here or there. But to me this is shady practice and ought to be stopped.

http://cryptonit.net/ its a small cryptocoin exchange based on drupal
not all parts are automated

for example depositing $ is not automatically added to your account
human intervention is needed but the exchange itself is pretty slick

you post your ask or bid price (to sell or buy) and if any new order has the exact same desired exchange rate the tranfer is done automatically
and if the amounts don't match the orders are changed accordingly to subtract the bought/sold amounts from

I would be interested in something like this too

I'm seriously interested. I can provide a Dev, Test and Production Server for this, and two Developers part time. I'm mostly interesting in creating an exchange, not mining. I'm also interesting in keeping it opensource and possibly using devcoins to compensate future developers.

Have you got anyone else insterested ?

At the moment it's just us.

I suppose I can coordinate a time to host a google hangout to introduce us and to discuss initial ideas and some of the existing work that's been done and that could be used toward making this a reality. There's obviously a ton more to it than just dev and tech like legal and participant stakes and security and administration and record-keeping and so much more. There is a lot to talk about and it's obviously best if we figure out how to organize it all sooner rather than later.

So if you guys would like to do a hangout, please list any convenient/open times in your schedules so that I can match them up to find the best date & time to schedule the event. Once that's determined I'll create an actual Groups event for sign-ups.

Did anyone make this happen?

Seriously.. It's an opportunity to profit at todays exchange rates and market values. Right?
