I have been searching for a Live Chat module that integrates tightly with Drupal. I came accross a plethora of paid serivces with minor drupal integration (basically a block with minor integration code), but nothing that fits what I am after.
I then came accross http://livehelperchat.com/ which is a GNU PHP Open Source chat system which looks great. I am wondering if there is any interest in forking this wonderful work and making it THE live chat/help system for drupal.
I am fairly new to drupal and php, so I am not sure the best way of achieving this, and if there is a way of only overriding the key components we need to, whilst continuing to receive the updates from the developer. Ideally the integration would be to use Drupal's:
- Roles
- Users
- Permissions
- Groups - OG
- Theming
- Database, rather than create a seperate database
Is this too much work, and we are just better off running this as a seperate installtion, or can this be integrated smoothly?
I am happy to contribute any way I can if there is interest.

Would very much love to have
Would very much love to have this. I am integrating LiveHelperChat into my website, only down side is that the support staff will have to maintain a separate login. If we get it into Drupal I think it would be a big value addition as currently there are no FREE live support chat system with exception of LHC.
I would also love to have a system to migrate the external support credentials into the existing drupal users too.
Just a novice at PHP but would like to contribute in whatever way I could!
