DrupalCon Asia-Pacific Organizers Invite You to Participate

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

We are excited to announce the DrupalCon Asia-Pacific Organisers group. DCAPO intends to lay foundations that will facilitate international Drupal Conferences (DrupalCons) in the Asia-Pacific region.

DCAPO welcomes and needs input and assistance from Drupal users and communities throughout the Asia-Pacific region. DrupalCons are a lot of work, and are only possible through the community's effort. Please join the DCAPO group to share your opinions and experience, volunteer your time, or nominate yourself or others for roles on the selection team.

DCAPO will later announce a call to the community to suggest and research locations for the first Asia-Pacific DrupalCon. Note that a lot of work goes into researching locations. The DCAPO selection team will only be able to seriously consider locations with suitable venues, dates and event management companies, financial estimates, potential audience and motivated local teams.

But first, as much of the Asia-Pacific Drupal community as possible needs to get involved. You can help by translating and reposting this announcement on other websites where Asia-Pacific Drupal users and communities are likely to find it. Don't forget to note any translations and reposts in the DCAPO group so that we can track progress and share translations with each other.

DCAPO is a result of the Drupal Association's new Events Plan (announced on Drupal.org) to have an Asia-Pacific DrupalCon every two years.

So I have been reading about you guy trying to organize DrupalCon in Asia-Pacific...But when will it happen? Do you have any update on it? When will it gonna happen 2013?? 2014??

DrupalCon Sydney happened in 2013

And there are plans for a DrupalCon in India next year - 2016.

Meanwhile - we should keep organising our events in the region - and help each other with cross promotion!

As far as camps go:

  • DrupalCamp Hyderabad: Mar 7-8, 2015
  • DrupalCamp Bangalore: Jul, 2015
  • DrupalCamp Pune: Aug, 2015

The latter two dates are not fixed yet and even the months may change.

We talked shortly at DCON Amsterdam (with Brian, remember?). In Ha Noi I am about to organize first DrupalCamp and would love to hook up with you and get some tips etc.

Looking forward to see more action in APAC region.

As far as I know, here is a quick list of the Drupal Camps in South East Asia last year:
- Drupalcamp Kyoto 12 April 2014
- Drupalcamp Manila 26-27 April 2014
- Drupalcamp Singapore 14 June 2014
- Drupalcamp Taipei 29-30 August 2014
- Drupalcamp Cebu 15-16 November 2014

For 2015, I think most of those places will try to have a Camp again.

I would confirm what @typhonius said, as the best place so far to get the locations is http://www.drupical.com/

Months will change for many camps in SEA this year I think. The list is just to have an idea of cities who hold camps in SEA. I've heard Singapore is still thinking maybe in August and Japan about June (camp in Tokyo this year).
Best is to wait for official announcement from the local community :)

whoa... I was tracking the original post of this, turns out it was from 2009 :)

Anyway, hey all... Ardi here, one of the organiser from Drupal Singapore Community, just to verify for DrupalCamp Singapore we are setting the date tentatively at 22 August 2015 for now, date maybe subject to change depending on the availability of the venue as well, and etc. And we are in the midst of drafting the plan now.
We'll let you know for the updates.
