Beyond the web: Expanding Drupal to the phone (and vice-versa)

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the great feedback at the last Boston meetup!

If you are interested in the Drupal-telephone (VoIP) integration, please let me know. I'm currently putting together a team to upgrade, release and extend my existing VoIP modules.

The current implementation is compatible with Drupal 4.7 and offers the following functionality: voicemail, voicemail groups, phone-based announcements and phone-based events.

Although the code is a little old, it's well organized and I don't foresee too many issues in the upgrade.

It would be super cool to extend the system to support conference calls, location-oriented calls (send messages to everyone who lives in a particular street or region) and even to add phone capabilities to other Drupal modules (polls, etc.). What do you think?

Looking forward to taking this project forward,

Leo

I'm interested. One thing that may be an interesting reference: http://www.frontlinesms.com. We had the founder, Ken Banks at a conference I helped organize in Providence.

I'm excited to see this available.

I've already got many ideas on how this can be utilized. I know this technology is already available, but it will be a bonus to be able to incorporate it into a Drupal development.

Looking forward to more news and updates.
