British English translations

I reckon Ubercart needs a British English translation, if only so we stop using string overrides on every single UC site we build for UK clients to stop them talking about 'checks'.

However, I know almost nothing about translation, either of core or contrib, and I have no idea where to start.

Do I need to register on the localization server and create a translation project node on Drupal?
And anyway, will Drupal understand a language code of the form 'en-GB'?

OK I have a .po file for ubercart 2.0 (6.x-2.0) from localize.d.o, do you have any ready made translations I can look at? Are you using string_override?

Have started updating the obvious but if you have any from real sites would be great to list specifics. There are over 3,000 translatable strings in UC!

The only ones I had were instances of 'check'.

I don't know how PO files work-- can we leave the majority of translations blank and allow the original strings to be used?

Okay, apparently the right
