Fixed date

Posted by david strauss on March 10, 2007 at 3:24pm

For some reason, the event module defaulted to January for the dates. The event is indeed happening tonight and not two months ago.

Known bug

Posted by Walt Esquivel on March 10, 2007 at 4:28pm

Month and minute droplists reset everytime nodes are edited - http://drupal.org/node/124210

And don't worry - I figured out the event was March. ;)

However, this bug needs to be fixed particularly for events that take place in the months after January 2008 because, if not caught by attentive folks, the month, e.g. Feb 2008, defaulting back to Jan 2008 will really throw some folks off.

Thanks David! I'm looking forward to learning a few things about Drupal and I appreciate you taking the time to put something together.

Presentation summary

Posted by todd nienkerk on March 11, 2007 at 2:11pm
  • A guy from Joomla was in the audience, and...
  • ...we told the Microsoft usability guy to take a hike, as we'd reserved the space ahead of time
  • We discussed Views, Panels, and how to use 'em to create a dynamic page
  • David installed (live!) Views and Panels on a sandbox installation of Drupal, and when the "undefined function" Panels glitch was publicly encountered, David patched it on the fly
  • David discussed the PressFlow suite of modules for online publishing and workflow, which are currently only implemented on That Other Paper
  • We announced Four Kitchens will release ALL PressFlow modules into the open source community as soon as we can package them, add some themable functions, and document their functionality. These modules include:
    • PressFlow Preempt (caching)
    • PressFlow Focus (a tag/taxonomy browsing system that LEARNS from experience)
    • PressFlow SellOut (intelligent advertising system that allows users to upload ads for approval and select where they want them to run on a site)
    • PressFlow Credits (allows users to buy credits to run ads through SellOut, purchase premium content, or do anything else that requires money)
    • PressFlow Templates (template system derived from wiki templates)
    • PressFlow Buzzworthy (a more intelligent "most popular content" block)
    • ...and more!

We'll put up a video as soon as we can get the footage and edit something together.

great presentation

i've seen a few drupal presentations and this was one of the best. the tag team approach really helped out with one person to type and the other to do the talking. great work guys!

Sorry I couldn't make it...

Was the Joomla guy there to heckle or to be converted?

Forget editing the video...

Posted by kreynen on March 11, 2007 at 4:29pm

Forget editing the video... unless that is going to be the documentation you "finish" before releasing the rest of the PressFlow modules. I am REALLY looking forward to trying some of your tools out.

Thanks for the presentation

And I observed David works quite well in the line of fire when he successfully overcame the "undefined function" Panels glitch. ;)

Good job guys!

Perfect for Drupal Dojo type learning and workshopping!

Posted by gusaus on March 26, 2007 at 8:52pm

As somebody whose been interested in/haphazardly working on facilitating something similar for not only my community (Los Angeles) but for the Drupal community (eventually in the form of an install profile/distro), I'd love to help add value to this project and get others involved. Once a videocast (of this presentation) is available, I'll post it to the relevant groups. Any other type of presentation, site recipe, formal lesson, or workshop ideas would be ideal for the Drupal Dojo and/or my regional group.

Please let me know how I/we can help!
