DrupalMedia.org Launched for the Sprint!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

As a supplement to the Media group, I launched Drupal Media today to help with the ongoing Media sprint efforts. On its front page, you'll see a map to the next sprint (which is at Mansueto - 7 World Trade Ctr, New York, NY this Friday-Saturday, October 23-24, from 9-5). Tabs are also available for discussions (add your own), videos, and a feed to the Media module issue queue. Please give me any feedback or desired functionality that would be useful for the site. (Including long-term plans for the useful domain, contributed by the good folks at Development Seed.)

Don't forget that you have to pre-register if you plan to come to the sprint, with your full name. Hope to see you there, or at #drupal-media in IRC!

Lost audience groups...

That's annoying -- if you preview your post at gdo, all the audience groups are cleared (which is misleading, as you can still set the taxonomy)...

A simple question

Posted by willazilla on October 27, 2009 at 6:09pm

First, I bought your book! And, Thanks for writing it!

I have a quick question. The PEG I am trying to bring into the OMP uses an old version of Tightrope's Cablecast system. Is that an obstacle to their implementation of the OMP? (I ask because I'm only finding references to the Telvue system.)

@willazilla Thanks for the kudos re. my book! It was fun to write.

I am not the right person to ask -- you should probably ask kreynen or the group at http://groups.drupal.org/open-media-project

Tightrope and OMP

Posted by lbourn on October 29, 2009 at 11:30pm

Is using Tightrope's system an "obstacle" -- hmmm.

Well, they are supposed to be coming out with an API or some other sort of interface (what other one could there be but an API, he asks) to allow the OMP to program their system directly (or indirectly).

But it's not here yet. And no one seems to know when to expect it. "Real soon now"? Maybe.

TelVue works now. I'm thinking if Tightrope learns that people are choosing TelVue over their system because of the OMP compatibility, they might get to work and integrate faster.

-- Lane (BNN-TV, Boston) (Tightrope system user) (we're not using OMP to program the channels)

Thanks Lane!

I can let my clients know the sitch. They would be the ones putting out the request.
