Why it's not totally

Posted by mohamedali on May 16, 2013 at 1:46pm

Why it's not totally free?
And who will be the trainers?

Wrong Question

Posted by jpoesen on May 16, 2013 at 5:56pm

"Why it's not totally free?" is the wrong question.
"How can I help to make it free" is the right question.

thanks

I don't agree that a Drupal

Posted by JonathanHindi on May 16, 2013 at 5:35pm

I don't agree that a Drupal training should be organized for money, We are an open source community, We support open source projects, and we want to open our knowledge for everyone.

You will ask how should we get the place, Simply find a sponsor, I remember than someone form an organisation offered to do the meeting there (Read it before in a fb comment), Why not asking him if he can host the training. (Also check flat6labs, any co-working space to sponsor it, or even ask Anas Emad from QafeerLabs to offer us a sponsorship or a discounted fee, at the end a training day like this will do some advertising to QafeerLabs. beside that I don't see that QafeerLabs is not reachable for everyone, 6 October is too far for many people).

Secondly, 50L.E is too much. for a training day. You can also find any college to organize something like this, But you will have to do it for students. (I already organized a drupal training for 20 students in my college last year, Abdelrahman Ghareb volunteered to give the sessions, 4 Sessions in a row as far as I remember).

Summary, Shouldn't be for Money and should be open and reachable for everyone (no far places).

Thank You.

1st of all thanks and we do

Posted by AhmadZain on May 16, 2013 at 6:10pm

1st of all thanks and we do not fight
2nd this was for the community and the place not for a person talking about the 50 LE which is not that much

3rd it's OK to do it without fees

4nd i think the training is can be with fees or donations and it's happening in all over the world in open source communities or non-opensource

5th the place and any one participating will not get any fees the day will be free

thanks all and please keep talks friendly

Hello guys,I see a lot of

Posted by mos3abof on May 16, 2013 at 6:25pm

Hello guys,

I see a lot of tension here. Calm down everybody :)

Keep it constructive, guys.

  1. First of all, the organizers did some mistakes, but we all do! For example they did not announce the training track, they did mention beginners, but didn't specify designers/developers/users.

  2. Why on earth do we mingle open source with "free as in a free beer"? Who said a Drupal training SHOULD be free?! Who said that trainers shouldn't earn money if they choose to?! As jpoesen replied above to a previous comment : "Why it's not totally free?" is the wrong question. "How can I help to make it free" is the right question.

  3. I find it totally against the "open source way of life" to argue like this about money as if it is the plague! If you don't like something about any event in general try to fix it, if you can't fix it, or people running it won't listen to you, run your own event the way you see it should have been run! No need to be hostile about it.

Have a nice day everyone :)

@mos3abof Thanks man and you

سلامي للجميع،اولا صيغة

Posted by mohamedali on May 17, 2013 at 1:10pm

:)

Dear All, this is Motaz,

Dear All,

this is Motaz, cofounder of Qafeer Labs and i am an Open Source Fanboy. normally we rent our meeting room with 35 L.E. per seat, Why? because we offer full catering and because we would like to support Drupal EG and to be honored to meet you all we decided to make a discount to make it 25 L.E. and the other 25 L.E. goes to the community's pocket to be able to do printouts, reservations, giveaways or whatever freely without the need to collect donations before every activity. but if you see that this is not fair then we as Qafeer Labs will offer you the whole event for free and we will pay for everything too :D

we wish that you will enjoy a fruitful event and we are honored by supporting Drupal EG.

Have a Nice Day,
motaz
