i'm looking into integrating the chatroom module (which i'm currently whipping back into shape) with Open Atrium.
any interest in this out there?

I skimmed the chatroom module page and saw that there is a chat room history. I assume that is a transcript of chats. Can these be tagged?

Jabber integration is more
Jabber integration is more attractive to me when compared to Chatroom and I've already started integrating it with Atrium via the XMPP Framework. I'll post here when I have news.

It's in the roadmap 1.1 of Openatrium but as a send methode.
As a collaborative tools I think it could be also interesting to integrate.

Agree that integrating w/ a jabber server is much more useful than forcing everyone to chat through the website.

Why shouldn't everyone be forced to use the website for chat?
This is an intranet. It's a closed system. All work done by the group should be within the group. With respect to the groups, there is nothing outside the website. What am I missing here?
why not just use website
A) Not every install of Open Atrium (or in my case, a collaboration-site that uses spaces/features/context) is a closed system
B) Using a web-based IM tool is inconvenient/impossible on many mobile devices whereas most modern phones can do IM pretty easily.
C) Many people don't like leaving their browser open all the time but will leave an IM program logged in all day. Supporting jabber-IM means more people will be logged in for greater amounts of time.

I agree in part.
Whilst Jabber IM is good for open sites I still like the idea of adding web-based chat via the website for more fine grained control - I would love to see a standalone chatroom module for Open Atrium.

it lays the ground work for OG and other integration with chatroom. i'd appreciate anyone who can have a play with that and feed me bugs and feature requests.

We set up a chat and got the following error messages:

XMPP integration
i'd love to see XMPP integration as well.
but i know of clients who simply wouldn't use it. they're not interested in that, they want a tightly integrated drupal intranet, not ultimate chat client flexibility.
so, this is really not an either/or, and we're wasting time proceeding on that basis.

I'd like to put it on my site for my atrium site for my class to use. I noticed its 2009 and the last poster had a problem with it, so I'm wondering if there is an current version? I just installed the latest chatroom module on my atrium, but havent figured out yet how to expose it... Thanks for any suggestions.
