#drupal-accessibility on IRC

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

In case we're interested in taking this into IRC, I registered #drupal-accessibility on freenode to chat around coding and accessibility issues and extensions in Drupal.

I'm going to set up logging on it this weekend.

That could be cool

How exactly does IRC work? I have the Firefox add-on; is there any place that has a good explanation?

I'm but a lowly non-doc-team member (^^) so I put in a request to add the channel to that page.

@ezufelt: would it be a good idea to publicize the IRC channel to use for logging of conf calls?

Logging conf calls

I think that #drupal-accessibility would be a good resource for logging of conf calls, particularly as it would assist individuals who are hearing impaired in participating.

As a general rule I hang out in #drupal and #drupal-usability when on IRC, as there is a greater number of users in those channels.

Thanks for setting this up.

Cool, I'll also set up a logging bot on there in the next couple of days. It's still a baby channel but I'm hoping we can use it as a go-to for some very specifically accessibility-related topics or semi-scheduled discussions, maybe even point some users from #drupal-usability there.

I was always kind of looking for accessibility-related channels that aren't closed-off to non W3C members etc. ^^

Great idea, Kat! And we're on d.o/irc!

As I've said a dozen other places, I need to settle down and figure out IRC. When I do, I will be sure to join this channel.

Yesterday, I added a comment to the Drupal IRC page mentioning that this channel is open, and this morning bekasu edited the page to list it. Check it out!

What happened? It's gone!

Kat, I managed to get on IRC, but #drupal-accessibility doesn't appear in a search for open channels. I can join it by acting like I'm creating a new channel, but it seems odd that it doesn't turn up in the search.

Any ideas why?

Logging now on

Hello all,

Logging is now on, on #drupal-accessibility. The live logs can be found here:
http://log.therealcha0s.net/drupal-accessibility.log

For the moment, it's one big log; I'll be archiving about once a month to my own servers. We have the awesome cha0s aka Ruben to thank for making these logs live.
