New date

I just heard BarCamp Phnom Penh is that same weekend. At least one person won't be able to do October 2 because of this. Also, we are thinking of changing our flights to stay longer in Paris, so we might not be in Thailand by October 2.

I'll update this post when I have more info.

We arrive in Bangkok on Wednesday 14, so let's do this Friday 16. Unless this is generally a bad time for people? Please comment.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Barcamp?

Posted by vesapalmu on September 16, 2009 at 1:18pm

Should we do a barcamp in Bangkok? I am also there on 16th and it would be nice to meet local Drupalistas.

Wesku, I had in mind a casual meetup for some drinks and a chat. Maybe a meal. If some one has time, energy and resources to organize a barcamp, then great! Go for it.

Anyone else attending?

Posted by vesapalmu on September 16, 2009 at 3:42pm

I think it all depends if we have just a handful of people or a lot. Casual meetup is also fine by me. Anyone else attending?

I personally would like to meet Drupalistas too. Unfortunately I will be in Washington, D.C. at that time.

In November, there will be a barcamp in Thailand as well in Chiang Mai (a city in northern part of Thailand).

Local Drupal shops?

Posted by vesapalmu on October 7, 2009 at 9:15pm

Does anyone have contacts with local Drupal shops in Bangkok? I would like to get in contact with some local companies specializing in Drupal, but they seem to be a bit difficult to find.

An option for a meeting venue

This is somehow our venue here in bangkok if we are too lazy to think of something :) But actually the place is quite good.

The name is Bug and Bee, it's located on Silom Road and it's a 4 storey cafe/restaurant with free wifi.
There is lots of room and it's open all night. They have great food and lots of desserts. Its something like fusion food, european asian mix.

You just leave BTS Sala Daeng at your right hand side when you come from the city center. It's right at the BTS exit.

Sweet! Sounds like a great location. What's BTS? It sounds like a big venue – should we pre-arrange what floor/area to meet on? 9 people have signed up so it should be a good-sized group. Do we need to book?

I'm looking forward to meeting you all in a few days!

BTS is the Skytrain

Hello Bevan.
BTS is the Skytrain. Hope the description make sense now.
The Skytrain stations are always very large and confusing, because they have 4 exits on every corner. I draw you a map to make it more clear. If you don't stay in the Silom Area, you will probably come from Siam Interchange, that's where the both skytrain lines cross. It always best to take the skytrain, you don't risk to stuck in the traffic as you will with a taxi.
This place is quite large, but we meet on friday night. So it might be full. I will give them a call and make a reservation.

Only local images are allowed.

What time?

Let's say 6-9pm, and folk can come and go when/as they want. We can head out elsewhere after 9pm if people are keen. Bara, could you make a reservation (if you think we need one). There will probably be a few more who haven't signed up, so 9-12 people.

Thanks! See you all there.

For recognizbility I'll be wearing a dark brown "CivicActions" T-shirt, like this T-shirt. Though that's not me. This is me in a similar T-shirt though! ;) Also I'll probably come a bit early to check out the venue, deal with getting lost and maybe do a bit of work till others come...

What happened?

Posted by nadam on November 22, 2009 at 10:36am

How many people showed up etc? Any plans for more meetups?

nadam, I think there about 7

Posted by Bevan on November 25, 2009 at 7:51am

nadam, I think there about 7 of us at one point. Mostly westerners living in Bangkok, a couple of Thai Drupal devs, and a couple of visiting westerners (like self).

No plans that I'm aware of, but I'd be keen to meetup again on or before December 10, before I head back to NZ. Not sure when I'll be getting to Bangkok though.
