Torrent for my high quality screencap of the Fourth Lesson is up!. The whole thing is 2:20 and about 180mb.

If you want to post a recode or other derivative, drop a link in the comments here and I'll flesh out the main node with more downloads.

Multiple formats = good!

Posted by gusaus on January 23, 2007 at 7:21pm

Looks like I missed an amazing lesson - it's incredibly helpful that these lessons are available and the 'mo multiple formats (flash, podcast (audio/video), etc.), the better! I'd be happy to contribute to coming up with derivatives - do we have any production/encoding guidelines? If not, possibly that could be another lesson idea for the wiki?

Can't wait to check out what I missed.

Some help available

Check out posts under dojo-howto for encoding guidelines. It's a bit of an inexact science, but experimentation is the key to success. I definitely agree that more derivatives = better.

Some great guidelines already there! The group categories/tags are very helpful (when they're used). Hmmm... maybe we should have some sort of 'best practices' lesson for creating/maintaining Drupal groups and other sorts of open collaboration? This thread actually snakes thru some relevant issues:

Unofficial Alternate Versions of Lesson #4

Posted by mpare on January 23, 2007 at 7:41pm

Here are some more formats if you want them. These have been redone off the source screencap, so should be good quality. These are encoded as H.264 with a .mov encapsulation format. Here are links to a near 800 x 600 (135.9 MB) version and a near 640 x 480 (111.7 MB) version.

Enjoy!

I can't seem to get the links to work

Posted by zoon_unit on January 24, 2007 at 11:21pm

When I try and save the links to my computer, all I get is a 1kb file. If I click directly on the link, I receive an error message telling me I don't have access to that server.

Oops!

Looks like that hosting account expired. Moving files as we speak. I will update all my posts momentarily. Sorry for the trouble.

reliable hosting

Posted by greggles on March 1, 2007 at 5:50pm

Drupal.org has offered to host these but we need good instructions on how to edit them first: http://groups.drupal.org/node/2645

Can you help in that effort? If so I'll send you a link to the movies that I have collected (I don't have the bandwidth to share the link here).

Further discussion

Posted by d3p0 on January 24, 2007 at 12:27am

Is there a forum where we can discuss the lesson is more detail?

I think we will have to post

Posted by dami on January 24, 2007 at 1:58am

I think we will have to post here. Maybe we could have one dedicated post per dojo lesson, for after-class quesions/discussions. At a later time, we then can integrate some of the Q&A's to corresponding lesson note wiki page.

Is the torrent still available?

Posted by rl on February 10, 2007 at 3:48am

I could not find any peers to load from. Is there anyway to view this video cast?

Rich

PS: I updated this post. You have to wait several minutes and the torrent will eventually start. I guess it takes a while to discover the peers.

thanks for seeding! much appreciated!
