OxDUG group site project and practical project

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

About a year ago at an OxDUG meeting, the idea of having an OxDUG website was mooted as a group project. Might I suggest that we revisit this idea at the next OxDUG meeting as a group project in which every one who wants to can help design, develop & administer?

As it might be a group site, it would not have the constraints that work sites would have and could be a fun thing for those who want to learn and/or mentor. There have been several conversations to do something along these lines so I don't want to try and outline them here but it could also do something which has also been discussed: have a practical meeting every so often. The hope would be that there is space for everyone rather than just having a few people.

There would of course be a set of practical aspects which could be discussed at the next meeting if there is space, such as what we would like, administration, hosting, a repo if we wanted and so on.

Thoughts, ideas, comments?

I'd be willing to help with getting this off the ground. Guess it should be in D7, and that could also act as a learning curve as well.
