DrupalCamp NYC 7 - Let's start the ball rolling

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Following an inspiring evening at Drupal Beers, it seems a good time to start thinking about the next New York DrupalCamp. The last one was at the end of February, so if we are to have it six months later that would be late August/early September. DrupalCon Paris is the 1st - 5th of September.

Although there's a lot to discuss, I think the first thing to address is location. The Poly has served us well, but people have suggested alternatives. Now seems a great time to discuss these alternatives. If you have connections with any other institutions that could host an event with > 150 people in several rooms could you post here to say what the venue is, and make inquiries about availability, capacity and any costs associated with hosting the event there?

I'll pick up the conversation with the New School, where I'm a student. We might be able to get free space there. I'll keep everybody posted.

Proposing a graphic for DrupalCamp NYC 7

Posted by wildfeed on May 29, 2009 at 7:47pm

Here's what I'd like to see as a graphic for DCamp this summer. Mr. Met never had it so good!

If I'm the only one who likes it I can come up with something else, so whatever your opinions are, go ahead and post them.

I'm a fan

... though as a Brit I'm not a baseball fan, so I don't know if this design is contentious!

Nice one !

Yeah that's pretty great.

As usual, I'll suggest it be held sometime after Drupalcon so as to bring back the ideas and energy from there, especially this time around as many have already indicated they would not be making it to Paris.

But it shouldn't follow tooo closely, for those of us who will be doing some traveling around Euro after the con...

I really like this graphic!

NJIT

Hi,

I can probably get the event hosted at New Jersey Institute of Technology, it is on the rail line to New York City and has good labs and facilities. I can probably get this done for not a lot of money, if any. Let me know if anyone would be interested.

Great idea

I'm in Jersey and am admittedly a little partial. Having a DrupalCamp on this side of the Hudson would be awesome!

That would be good

Speaking as a person who actually missed the last NYC DrupalCamp b/c of an inability to make it to NYC day of, NJIT sounds very good! I know of other Philadelphia- and NJ-area Drupal peeps who would probably appreciate the venue as well.

Venue Discovery

Posted by ezra-g on June 1, 2009 at 5:57pm

At this point it seems like we're at the "Venue Discovery" phase, where we're finding out about our options, so most specific info about potential venues would be helpful. Then, we can weigh all of the factors of the different venues (location, price, facilities) and select one.

At the request of Oleg I am adding a couple of graphics the group might want to use for Drupal camp 7 event, swag or stickers. Please comment if you like anything you see.

nice!

I love the top one (bagel, coffee, drupal)

Great

The one with a bagel is awesome. Even if I can't eat the sticker I vote for that one LOL :)

P.S. would be even cooler if it was an everything bagel since Drupal is the everything bagel of the Open Source CMS world :)

What are you talking about (?) you can't even eat a real bagel !
