Nodeaccess vs Node_access

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

In researching modules for finer permission control, I found 2 modules with almost the same name. Anyone recommend one over the other?

Can you describe your specific need for a node access module? That would help when recommending one over another.

Meanwhile, see http://drupal.org/node/413644 for possible answers from the maintainer of the Node Access module.

The site is mostly informational for anonymous users but there are a few sections that only want to be available to admin types.

This description is too vague, I'm afraid. You haven't really explained what you need and there are a million different node access configurations. You can take a simple approach and unpublish content (and allow admins with 'administer nodes' permission to see it), use something as comprehensive as Organic Groups or use another method that falls in between.

Sorry, can't be more specific when you're still learning Drupal. All I know is that I need to have permission control over nodes that core doesn't provide. And I've heard about "nodeaccess" but when you go to find it, there are two! So thanks for the link you sent above - I'm going with "nodeaccess" (long standing and well maintained)".
