Diagram of regions in Omega 3

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Please review this diagram of Sections, Zones, Regions for Omega 3.

Omega 3 Diagram

This is built in InDesign after using the starterkit for omega-html5, so it's easy to fix/repair/update.

By the way, this made me wonder about the inclusion, in mytheme.info, of the lines

regions[page_top] = 'Page Top'
regions[page_bottom] = 'Page Bottom'

since they don't appear elsewhere in the code.

Footer First twice?

Looks like Footer Second may be mislabeled.

Thanks for doing this!

Are the preface regions

Are the preface regions labelled correctly?

@MrPaulDriver

Very Nice Job!

Great work. I know how tedious it is to draw those! I just recently did a "smaller" version of your layout that isn't nearly as complete or detailed. (just focused in on one zone)

Missing from your drawing, are the "inner" region divs. I think it's important to remind users to make padding and margin changes to the region-inner divs rather than the region divs to prevent "breaking" widths. (or use the prefix and suffix regions)

Here's mine: http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l56/zoon_unit/zone-layout.png

Also, the #zone divs are not full width, but are the width of your grid in total units.

Is there any way you could make your indesign file available online? I'd love to use it in an Omega presentation I'm doing tomorrow night (Tuesday) at the Atlanta Drupal User's Group.

More things to do

Paul: you're right, they're mislabeled. I'll correct them first thing tomorrow. If possible, I'll try to include the inner divs.

zoon_unit: Sorry, didn't see your message on time. I'll make the InDesign file available also first thing in the morning...

Thanks!

Here's at last the update.

The diagram in PDF version

The InDesign file

I've included the inner classes where needed. Please review in case I still have mistakes to correct. The InDesign file is built using version CS5 (7.0).

Happy drupaling!

himerus gave an answer to your question in #drupal-omega @hsalazar

"page_top and page_bottom are core (required) regions for injecting various elements, but aren't used in the block manager to have "normal" blocks put in them. Core uses page_top to throw in things like the toolbar and page_bottom is used for modules like google analytics and stuff to put stuff at the end of the page (all via module code)"

Thanks again for the diagram.

Muchas gracias, Lacho

El diagrama aclara, eh, pone las cosas en su lugar... jejeje

Warm regards from sunny México!
