Locale a core optional drupal module will help you to do this. This module will allow you to translate all the text wrapped under t() function. Enable this module and play around

Export untranslated strings

You can export not translated strings, translate them, and import the translation again. The procedure should be explained in the online help of your Drupal installation.

Use Translate Interface module

Download it from Drupal.org under module. You can translate anything that have been assign with t() in the core without touching any core and language files. Even updating also doesn't effect you translation before.

I have been used for a long ago in my site and it work perfectly.
