Any Proposals from 2008 worth doing in 2009?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

There are a number of proposals from last year that either didn't make the cut or, in a couple of rare cases, didn't result in a successful project. Are there proposals from the GSoC 2008 group that worth bringing over the GSoC 2009 group? I'm going to put some work in organizing the group, and I was thinking it might be a good way to populate the idea section with some content.

Here's the list from last year: http://drupal.org/google-summer-of-code/2008/ideas-list
I believe you have to be a registered mentor to view the complete list of proposals, but if you go to http://code.google.com/soc/2008/drupal/open.html you can see the 22 projects that made it as well as the 47 proposals that didn't make the cut.

Hi,

Here is the exported list via Google Docs:

Yes there were ideas that started vague but after further discussions later on turned up to be very interesting.

I added this to the GSoC 2008 group as well...

Are you sure this is the kind of stuff we put in the public? I think this would be fine if we removed everythinb but the app title.

Sorry about the names and score but removed email before posting and was an exact export from the mentors page. Just to clarify, the one's the was dug down to negatives where the ones we decided not to be slotted (eg: no mentors, etc) and not because the idea they represent was poor. Its now edited with no names and scores.

Drupal Pipes is a very cool idea. YouTube API is as well, but looks like someone took did at least a 5.x version: http://drupal.org/project/youtube_api. Also, I'm not sure what the plans are for that as far as the new Media module.

I'm doing something very Pipes like, and will upload it to d.o in the next few weeks (at latest). Still lacking a nice drag-n-drop JavaScript frontend though, and lots of other features :P

There are 3 projects that failed evaluation namely Document Import, Image Manipulation GUI, and Charts Module -- we'll just need to check if the previous mentor want's to pick it up again or find new ones (haven't checked on d.o if it was continued & modules already exist).

This was a project from last year I was enormously interested in seeing happen. I would love to see someone pick that up and run with it, not sure where it got left.

@heyrocker

I bet if we can find the work time, we can push this project as co-mentors.
