Building a Station Module Archive server with FreeBSD

After accidentally deleting half the OS and database for the KPSU archive server, I've been documenting the process of setting up station archive server under FreeBSD. So far, I've written up configuring the recording and encoding of audio from the soundcard with darkice, streaming the audio with icecast2, installing MySQL, Apache, and Drupal. Now I'm working on documenting the setup of StreamRipper and the station archive module.

Thanks for the great instructions...

Just a quick edit on the install instructions from the drewish FreeBSD install notes
4th line from the bottom of the following node:
http://drewish.com/node/30

$ /usr/local/etc/rc.d/icecast2 start

should be replaced by

$ /usr/local/etc/rc.d/icecast2.sh start

... at least on my machine :-)

not sure why that is but i'd assume it's a different version. i'd built everything with freebsd 6.1.

Do people have a preferred streaming flash mp3 player for live feeds e.g. from icecast? I've been fiddling around for a bit and have got "minicaster" working... but, I am thinking that I would prefer to go with something that had a different skin, personally. :-)

Here's what the mini-caster looks like...

Anyhow, is there anything that is "best practices" / "drupal-standard" for a streaming flash mp3 player for live feeds... or is this pretty much uncharted territory?
